Starting Kindergarten
Starting primary school is a big step for children and families. Our school runs information sessions and transition activities to help your child feel ready for kindergarten and to support you as parents and carers.
Read the Getting ready for primary school guide for detailed tips and checklists.
Before your child starts Kindergarten
School Tour
Before your child begins, all families meet with a member of our Leadership Team for a tour of our beautiful school. We encourage you to bring your child on the tour. This is a time to share:
- medical conditions or allergies
- learning support needs
- family circumstances that may affect your child’s start
We want every child to feel safe, supported and included in school life.
Growing Together Kinder Information Sessions

During the sessions, we will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about the transition to school. Your child will also receive a Tiny Treasures T-shirt at session one that they can wear to our Tiny Treasures transition days.

Kindergarten Transition Program
Our Tiny Treasures Kinder Transition Program is designed to help our youngest learners feel confident, excited, and ready to begin their school journey. We all know that 'Great Things Often Start Out Small', this supportive program ensures a positive start for both children and families as they take their first steps into school life. Over eight weeks children gradually become familiar with the school environment, meet their teachers, classmates and buddies, and experience a gentle introduction to classroom routines. Through engaging activities, play-based learning, and opportunities to explore, children build friendships, develop independence, and ease into the transition from home to school.
As part of the program, we also host a Parent Information Session (see date below), providing families with valuable insights into school routines, expectations, and ways to support their child’s transition to kindergarten. Parents will also receive a school library bag for their child filled with information, resources, uniform gift vouchers and activities to keep your little one excited and ready to start kindergarten in 2027.
Together, this program ensures a positive and supportive start for every child and their family.

What to expect in kindergarten
Learning and development
Kindergarten follows the NSW curriculum. Children build early skills in literacy, numeracy, creative arts, health and physical activity, science and technology. Learning through play also supports social, emotional and academic growth.
Daily routines
Children learn routines such as morning arrival, snack and lunch breaks, lining up, using bubblers and moving safely around the school. Teachers guide children as they settle in, but practising at home helps.
Best Start Assessment
At the start of the year, all Kindergarten children take part in the Best Start Assessment. This is a friendly, one-on-one activity where teachers learn about your child’s literacy and numeracy skills. It is not a test and needs no preparation.
